“In all our quest of greatness, like wanton boys, whose pastime is their care, we follow after bubbles, blown in the air.”
~John Webster
There is something about bubbles that always makes people smile. I enjoy incorporating them in the preschool classroom whenever I can. Art with bubbles is not only and all time hit with the kids but involves science, spacial awareness and fine motor development. Is that why I do it?
Ahem.
You tell me.....
Bubble Print Art For Preschoolers
Materials Needed:
* A table or any flat surface will do.
*1 bowl of bubble solution and water per child. (Dish washing liquid such as Dawn is best)
*Food coloring or Bio Color (to color the bubbles after they are blown).
*Large size straws. (1 per child)
*Eye droppers and small cups with food coloring solution.
*Newsprint or trays to cover the table. Cleaning towels are handy as well, this project is fun and can get messy.
*White slick finger paint paper is best but any white paper will do.
The Process:
Challenge the preschoolers blow into the bubble solution bowl until the bubbles are nice and high. This can be an activity in itself. Allow the children to experiment and ask them questions about how the bubbles are being made.Have the children add food coloring over the top of the bubbles. Then have the child place a piece of drawing paper right down on top of the bubble bowl.
We make a number of pictures and extend this project over a few days.
