Funny Things Kids Say in Early Childhood Education

“I ask people why they have deer heads on their walls. They always say because it's such a beautiful animal. There you go. I think my mother is attractive, but I have photographs of her.”
~Ellen DeGeneres

I love animals, whether they have a leg on each corner or not. I have always had them in my preschool classroom.
I involve the children in their care, feeding and cleaning. I really feel it is important for them to understand there is work to keeping animals happy and healthy… it’s not just a romantic fantasy.
I am beginning to become more conscious about what I wear. There are now so many great faux leathers and furs for a fraction of the price I just can’t resist.
The preschoolers are starting to take notice.
Kids tend to take on the same passions and enthusiasms and adults they spend time with......
Jack already loves animals but I think I have quite possibly pushed him over the edge.
I was sitting outside with a group of kids reading a book when I felt a little pair of hands running up and down my back.
I turned around and it was Jack.
He has a smile like a Jack-o-lantern. You know…big. Crazy. Lots of missing teeth.
I think loosing teeth for preschool children is a status symbol or something……
“Nice jacket.” He said smiling, “Is it donkey?”
I sucked in my breath…..don’t laugh…..don’t laugh…….don’t……
“Why no, Jack.”
Not donkey?” Jack was still running his hands up and down the faux lining.
“No Jack…..it’s faux fur.”
“Ah…Gopher!”

  1. Haha - I love it - a donkey jacket!

My husband has two deer heads hanging in my basement - I rather hang up pictures of my mother-in-law!
